For those of you (Lindsey and Bridget) who have decided that Baby B is your favorite, here he is waving! And if you look really close you can see his heart beating!

And here is Baby A just hangin' out, you can really see his heart beating! :)

16 weeks (and 200% boy!)

This week:
- The babies are the size of avocados, they weighed about 5 oz each at our appointment today
- I have already gained 12 pounds!
- My belly is definitely starting to grow!
- I can still wear some of my regular clothes but my pants don't button any more...sweatpants it is!

I can't believe its already been 4 months! The last 2 especially have been quite busy between finding out about the twins, having our little scare and being sent to UW, and going on vacation and visiting the fine Maui Medical Center (I was having really, really bad pain. A few days rest and lots and lots of water seem to have cured me). We are so thankful that so far the babies are healthy and growing! AND we are super excited because for the first time since our very first drs appointment we don't have to go back for 4 more weeks! Yay! We like seeing our babies but it will be so nice to not have weekly appointments!

We are starting to think a little bit harder about baby names. I am not one of those people who has had baby names picked out since I was younger so we are going through lots of books and trying to make a little list. How will we ever choose!? My mom's friend suggested that we have a raffle and charge $5 to put a name in a bucket and then we will choose 2 names and those people are the winners and that's what we name the babies. We will see if we get that desperate!

And a few pictures! The ultrasound tech had to work REALLY hard to get this picture as they were both moving around constantly and its hard to get 2 babies in one picture! Baby B is on top looking down and Baby A is on the bottom looking up!

And a cute little hand waving :)

15 Weeks

People have been asking for belly pictures, so here are a couple from vacation (or at least that you can see I have a belly haha). I guess I should get better about taking these from here on out!
Babies at the Beach

Maui!

We are back from vacation and it was SO nice to see the sun! Tiffany, one of our friends just graduated from UW (congrats Tiff!!) so we went on a little celebration trip with three other couples. We stayed in a villa at the Westin and it was really nice! There were BBQs there so the boys went to town and did the majority of our lunch and dinner cooking...ribs, cheeseburgers, kabobs and more! My Dr would be proud of how much I ate while we were gone. Danny took a picture of us on the plane and when I looked at it I realized that I now officially have a little belly that might be noticeable to other people.

We spent our first few days sunbathing on the beach. The boys had a good time snorkeling and even saw a sea turtle! I mostly stayed on the beach or in the pool as I am not fond of sea creatures of any kind. I did try snorkeling once for a few minutes but then a fish got too close to me and I didn't go in again!

We spent one night on a sunset dinner cruise and another night at a luau that had really good food! We also got to be a part of a proposal, congratulations Steven and Bridget!! We got to hide out and watch the proposal and take pictures from our spots on the beach. We are so happy for you guys!
It was a great trip and hopefully in another 25 years or so we can go again :)

And the Answer is....

...BOYS! (Well, the Dr is 70% sure at least!) We had another ultrasound this week and they got a little peak and he says "outdoor plumbing" it is. This is what they thought they saw last week at our appointment too. I thought it would have been fun to have girls but I was pretty sure it would be boys since we are a pretty boy heavy family at least on my side. I have 3 brothers and one sister and our boys will make 5 boys and 1 girl for grandkids! My niece, the lone girl, really wanted girl cousins but I guess she will have to keep waiting :)
Ready to go! (yes that is Russell's tail...he was helping us pack!)
Our bags are all packed and we are almost all ready for our trip to Maui! We are very excited to see the sun and have some time to relax with our friends. We plan on fully enjoying this trip since it will be our last one for the next...20 years?

Girls or Boys??

We have a pre-Maui ultrasound today and we are hoping to get a little sneak peak at what they babies are! My friend thinks I should take a poll, any guesses?? I have my suspicions, I will let you know if I'm right :) Apparently I am turning into an insomniac, I haven't been sleeping well all week! Tonight I have slept a total of 3 hours...I have been up since 1 am and I "wake up" to get ready for work at 4:40! Oh well, I guess my body is trying to prepare me for never sleeping again. So what do you think, pink or blue? And will they let us get a little look today!?

Cloth Diapers!?

13 weeks - the babies are the size of peaches this week! We had a nice relaxing weekend, did some cooking for the freezer with my mom and sister, hung out with some friends, started packing for vacation, and went to church. We are starting to think about the logistics of this whole twin thing...its a little overwhelming! Since these are our first babies we have nothing to compare one baby vs two babies at a time. We are trying to figure out what we really need and what we can live without (our house isn't very big!)

Obviously, one thing we will need a LOT of is diapers. At first I said no way to cloth diapering two babies, but then we started to think about if each baby needs 10ish diapers a day, that is 140 diapers a week and 560 diapers a month! We started to do a little research and it is actually a fair amount cheaper to do cloth diapers with a diaper service (I would never have time to clean/wash them all myself, at least not at first!) than it is to do regular diapers. Not to mention we would have to take our garbage out twice a week with disposables! So, that is something we are considering right now. We'll see what happens :)

Little Troublemakers!

So this last week has been kind of eventful/stressful/relieving for us. Last week I went in for a nuchal translucency ultrasound where they look at the amount of fluid in the back of the babies necks. This is an indicator for risks related to genetic problems. I went by myself because I figured it would be a quick "everything's fine" appointment. I learned my lesson and I am never going to another appointment alone! One of the babies came back looking fine and the other one had what they consider a high measurement. The Dr told me it was probably nothing but that there was a 1/39 chance that Baby A had some kind of genetic problem or cardiac defect. I was kind of a wreck all week not knowing if something was wrong or what our next steps would be.

Our OB office referred us to a perinatologist at UW so today we got to spend the whole day in Seattle. First we met with a genetic counselor, then we had a redo of the ultrasound, and then we met with the specialist. Baby B is always very cooperative during ultrasounds and poses appropriately letting them get their measurements while Baby A is always fairly uncooperative either curled up, or moving around, or rolling over so they have to work a little harder. BUT the ultrasound they did today came back normal!! Yay! The Dr said she can't just "throw away" the other ultrasound but at this point we all agreed that the risks of further testing (doing a needle biopsy of the placenta) aren't worth the little potential information we could get. She said she is more concerned with "normal" risks for twin pregnancies like making sure the babies keep growing the same and that all twin pregnancies are at risk for structural defects. If they find something in a later ultrasound then we can get an amniocentesis later on if we feel that would be beneficial or if something comes up.

We are happy that for now our babies seem to be healthy and just wanted to cause a little trouble (not sure who they get that from!). Every time we have an ultrasound, which is quite frequently lately, they are always moving around. So, for now we just keep praying that they stay healthy and stay in there for a long time! We have another ultrasound next week to check on them before we leave for MAUI for a week. We are hoping maybe we will get a little sneak peek to see if we can tell if they are boys or girls, otherwise we have another ultrasound the week we get back and hopefully we can count on Baby B to keep cooperating and let us look, not holding out too much hope for Baby A behaving :)

And here is a little picture of the rascals....we haven't gotten a picture of both of them together since our very first ultrasound so it was fun to get one of both of them today!

12 Weeks!

I am almost officially done with my first trimester, which is pretty exciting. We got to see the babies again last week and they were still moving around so much, one baby punched the other one! Hopefully they dont run out of room in there! The most common question we get when people find out we are having twins is "Do twins run in your family?" And the answer is nope! No twins on either side. Fraternal twins are the ones that run in families, our twins are identical which just kind of happens. Since they are identical it will either be two boys or two girls! We are slowly starting to collect baby things, so the computer room may be filled with baby things sooner than later. We are really excited for our trip to Maui in a few weeks to hopefully get some rest and relaxation as its been a busy couple of months! We have an appointment before we leave to check on the babies and then another one for the week after we get back to hopefully find out if they are boys or girls!!!!!
